THE NOTION”
There is a notion in Borno state, the notion of injustice and marginalization of the southern part of the state especially the Marghi tribe, that “only a kanuri can govern Borno state”.
As if this is enough, the cabinet is shared still among them(kanuri); why can’t these position be shared equally among the tribes of the state? For instance, if Kanuri is governor, as usual Bura dupty governor then SSG should be Marghi or vice versa. The highest office Marghi has ever held is either commissioner of health. I think, HABA!!! There should be democracy equality as it is seen in other states like Edo state etc.
During the reign of Idrisa Aloma, he doesnt go on a conquest if his commander of army is not around, who is Marghi by tribe, King Adua’. Marghi hold a very important position in the history of kanem Bornu but we are now being treated as “second class Bornurians”.
Its high time Borno state should practice modern politics of all inclussiveness where no tribe is treated as inferior to other. For the achievement of total peace and progress in the state, this point i think it is necessary for the aclaimed Borno elders should consider in their next gathering.
IT IS TIME FOR THE SOUTHERN BORNO TO PRODUCE A GOVERNOR. Its is a known fact that “the brainny of the state are from the southern part”. We should be given an opportunity to govern too!!! and contribute our own quota to the development of Borno state and returning to it lost glory “ HOME OF PEACE”
